The Help (2011)

What was in that pie?
An aspiring author during the civil rights movement of the 1960s decides to write a book detailing the African-American maids' point of view on the white families for which they work, and the hardships they go through on a daily basis. IMDB.
The good things about this film are the colour, the beautiful trees of the town, the wonderful big shiny vintage American cars, some of the sixties hairstyles, and the story line. The bad include the woeful acting by some of the cast, the shallow approach to the subject and the one big laugh out loud moment which dragged the whole movie into the gutter and kept it there by making it a major sub-plot. To find out you must watch. I enjoyed the first ninety minutes. Should have been cut short.
