Pulling the ship |
Pretty good. For once I could make out all the words in the songs. Not only that but I could follow the whole story effortlessly. The performances too were good, especially Hathaway and Eddie Redmayne whose solo efforts were above average. The stunning opening scene with the convicts pulling the ropes of the ship made for a grand dramatic journey and as my niece said to me 'it's full on' most of the way. The Sacha Cohen and Helen Bonham-Carter scenes made for light relief though maybe a little too caricatured with their burlesque approach. Two and a half hours went quickly. Thumbs down to the cinema, they issued no tissues!
