Spellbound (1945)

'Dr Petersen' listens to her patient
Ingrid Bergman with glasses pretending to be a great psycho analyst? I guess Freud was all the rage in those days and Ingrid was everybody's favourite. Add to the mix the master Hitchcock and you shouldn't miss. But a somewhat convoluted plot that seemed to be going nowhere for the first hour, a somewhat average performance from Ingrid and at two hours longer than what Hitchcock usually likes this film just passes for a time passer. I especially didn't like the whirlwind resolutions near the end and then more when they decided to put a twist to the plot to give it a happy ending, no matter how implausible the story. Michael Chekhov the professor gave the film a much needed spark but by then it was a bit late. Most disappointing is Ingrid  usually so good looking so lost for most of it.
