No Time for Sergeants (1958)

It was sad to hear of Andy Griffith's passing. He was an icon of my early television years. It was always nice to watch him in the Andy Griffith Show where he played the Mayberry sheriff.  His reassuring philosophising, made everything alright with the world. No Time for Sergeants was a stage play for which he won an award The film version has it's good moments though Andy's acting seemed a bit stale. But the scene with the Manual Dexterity Corporal is very funny and shows off the great talent of one Don Knotts who used to play his deputy in the Andy Griffith Show. Don's comic genius was unfortunately under utilised in this movie. He should have been given the psychiatrist's role instead.

I like the Bergmanesque lighting...or is it just a bad print?
