Hugo (2011) USA...zzz...

Hugo Harry Potter?

Suffered to the end of Hugo. It started so promissingly, great setting, the Paris of the 1900s and the you watch and watch and by the end the kid gets on your nerve, to say nothing of a boring script. Ben Kingsley is wasted as is Sacha Cohen (Borat, etc) and the whole thing becomes a sentimentalist trip. One strictly for the fans of film history...at most.

I have to agree that this was a thoroughly disappointing film. All that eye candy can't redeem a bad script, acting nor direction. And yes - over sentimental it was.

Seems Scorsese is losing his touch. I thought that things were already going downhill with Shutter Island despite the good cast.
