Some parts funny, mostly not this dimwitted exercise is only lifted by the talents of Bill Nigh who makes the most of his part of a faded rock 'n roller out to make one more hit, even if it's 'total shit' as he puts it. But he too has the mandatory scene where he acts in the spirit of Xmas and declares that at Xmas he has to be with the one he really loves, his manager! They both then have an awkward scene where they hug.
Elsewhere the stint of the porn star lovers doing simulated sex on the set leaves you crossing this film off the family list of DVDs to watch on a Sunday night. The joke about this was that this is how they meet and fall in love. Shown in one scene it raises a smile, but repeated in various versions spread throughout the film it just gets irritating.
I watched this film after putting it off for all these years and my instincts were right. Reeking with cliched sentimentality this star studded film is a waste of good resources. I was going to finish by saying "Love actually" sucks but I see that someone has stolen my thunder and used this title in another more recent film. So pretend you didn't read that.
